Treasures Found in Abia


The predominately igbo community also known as "God's own state" was carved out of former Imo state in 1991.
Abia is known for it's notable Imo and Abia rivers that flows into the Atlantic ocean through the Niger-Delta. Abia state is also known for it's specialty in the production of Akwete Cloth which is beautifully designed in different materials. Akwete is good for making wears and gift items.



Azumini Blue River is another place to see, the
beautiful sands,  glassy stones, beach for leisure.
Blue River is good for fishing, boating, yachting, skiing. Relaxation facilities are available for comfort.


Abia is house to different museums that showcase relics of slave trade, Nigerian civil war weapons, the evolution of Nigeria as Nation State, chronology of rulership,  eras of nationalism and independence and ancient items. Iyama Afia Shrine is also situated in the Museum of Antiquities with the grave of Mazi ogbuji Okoro Oji, the original founder and owner of the museum.

Another interesting place is the dark Arochukwu Cave with many outlets about a hundred yards away from the main entrance. The Cave wa s used as a court of law and consultation purposes during the slave trade. There also is the destiny gate, the flowing stream(iyi-eke), the gate of no return and a spring.
Waow! Abia state is incredible! You need to be there and be sure to enjoy every bit of your stay.
